Bushfires have long been a recurring force in the Australian landscape. But in 2019, the fires spread further south than ever before, reaching deep into the Blue Mountains.
Just days before my arrival, long-awaited heavy rains finally brought relief, saving lives, protecting the national park, and preventing even greater devastation.
What remained was a landscape marked by fire, rain, and the fragile traces of what had survived.
